ATTENTION! Due to circumstances out of our control, we have had to move to The Venue at Springfield. This new venue is only 15min from the original venue. Please let us know if you have any questions.
VIBES
Semi-formal/southern marshview bbq party under the stars (the bride will be in a full face, though).
CUISINE
The included dinner will be a traditional Southern BBQ buffet (pulled pork barbeque, collard greens, mac and cheese, etc.). Unfortunately, we are unable to accommodate for dietary limitations, but we will have a few vegetarian dishes available. We understand this may be an inconvenience, and encourage you to bring your own meal to the property’s refrigerator, if you like! Thank you in advance for your understanding.
THE VENUE
Our event will be held at The Venue at Springfield, a 300-acre historic property with all of the southern low country's finest attributes, including oak trees, swaying moss, forests, and breezes over the salty marsh waterway.
The majority of the event will be held outdoors, as such there are some dirt/gravel driveways, some grass, and there will be a dance floor. Plan your shoes/heels accordingly, especially in the event of rain the day before. The bride would like you all to know she is very invested in everyone’s foot comfort, and doesn’t want anyone to wear shoes that they don’t mind getting a little dirt on. Her personal recommendation: a wider heel or “whatever you feel fabulous and comfortable in.”
Being that we will be outdoors, by the marsh, and in the middle of spring, weather may be unpredictable. In the past, April has brought a mix of hot, sunny days, with cooler evenings, sporadic rain showers, and the potential for some mosquitoes. Again, we recommend bringing comfortable shoes, perhaps some sunscreen, and bug spray, just in case.
Finally, we would like to acknowledge the deep, complicated tapestry of the past, that weaves together to create the intricate story behind our venue, and South Carolina. These oak trees have witnessed events that have changed history. We hope to create new stories upon this land; for while we cannot change the past, the oak trees and those of you joining us will experience a day of love, community, unity, and wholeness.
DIRECTIONS/PARKING
Upon entering the property gates, follow the path for ~0.5 mile. From there, stay right at the fork, and continue straight on all the way until the path ends, right at the main house. Feel free to park anywhere within the signed parking, as long as the road is not blocked. No stress, we will have signs along the way to keep you on track!
VENUE RULES
As per venue policy, there is absolutely no smoking nor drug use allowed anywhere on The Venue at Springfield property. It is imperative that we all adhere to these rules out of respect for the venue, the other guests around you, and the ecosystem we will be in. Additionally due to liquor laws, the event is strictly 21+.
SUGGESTIONS TO PACK

Wildlife Disclosure
This venue is first & foremost a nature preserve, and is a necessary safe-haven for much of South Carolina’s local wildlife. During your time here, you may be lucky enough to spot alligators, snakes, spiders, turtles, birds, fish, lizards, raccoons, opossums, foxes, & more native creatures. Please do not approach nor feed any local wildlife, & dispose of all food properly in the trash bins. This is for your safety, as well as theirs.
Georgetown, SC is home to a few venomous species of snakes & spiders, as well as some poisonous plants, such as Poison Ivy. We do not recommend walking through piles of leaves or thick grass/bushes. It is advised to watch where you are stepping at all times, even on designated pathways. Remember, if you come across any wildlife, they are not out to harm you; they are inherently defensive, not aggressive. Humans are giant predators, and the wildlife will be more scared of you than you are of them.
Please respect their ecosystem, as we are simply visitors in their places of refuge. PS, if you see a snake, tell Gretchen immediately; she will be so excited to go identify it!
